The Laodicean Church |

![]() Hot and Cold The Lord Jesus said, in Revelation 3:16 "So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth." The City of Laodicea obtained water from hot springs piped in from some distance away. By the time it reached the city, this water was too warm to drink, and too cool to use as a health bath. So it was considered lukewarm. That’s a description of the city and the age, in which these people felt financially secure. They felt financially independent. They felt as though they had been blessed in the material realm. There’s a strong lesson for us to heed and to obey. The prosperity of the modern church, has ruined genuine spirituality. The church’s spiritual condition was indicative of the social condition. I’m talking about the Church at large, throughout North America and other parts of the world, we are rich, we are increased with goods, you can hear many ministers brag about their riches, put a spiritual value on money, and especially the money that’s coming their way, and teach the prosperity message, not with a humble spirit, but with a proud spirit, and give all types of Biblical justifications for their wealth, but it’s going to fade away, because their wealth is based on the dollar bill. The material possessions all have monetary value, whether it is a home, fancy cars, airplanes, property. It all has monetary value based upon the U.S. dollar. And that is riches according to the value of the carnal standard of life, money, just filthy lucre. The modern church today, in my opinion, has too much money.
