Body, Soul and Spirit

Many traditions have come down to us in the Protestant Christian Church. Many of these traditions we just accept and we don't challenge them. We have these all these ideas and concepts that we perpetuate just simply because we don't want to challenge the system. Spiritual leaders don't want to change, because with change, you lose support, and you lose finances. What we need is the Word of God and hopefully I will challenge you in a good spirit, to look at the Word of God completely on this particular subject and find a true understanding of body, soul and spirit.

The Apostle Paul said this in his letter to the Thessalonians. "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." Now do you notice, there's three words here, which denotes the trichotomous nature of man, tri meaning three. So we have the trichotomous nature of man expressed in this verse, but, when he worded this verse, or the way it's translated, it gives the impression that there are three separate parts totally separate from one another. And that is not fully correct, possibly three different entities, but they all become one person.
